Biochar Production from Biomass/Municipal Solid Waste

Biochar technology offers an environmentally sustainable and economically viable solution for organic waste management while improving soil health and carbon sequestration. Two adaptable models—based on biomass and municipal solid waste (MSW)—are available for implementation.
The organic waste-based gasification system uses biogenic part of the municipal waste, producing high-quality biochar, syngas, and bio-oil. It ensures high conversion efficiency through advanced thermal decomposition in a hydroxy environment.
With a 10 TPD MSW feed, the 1 TPD biochar output is achieved. Integrated with gasification, heat recovery, and pollution control, this system runs at 50 kW and achieves ROI within 5 years with a 17-18% IRR.
The Biochar production system is PLC-controlled, emission-compliant, and offer by-products like bio-oil and bio-tar. By aligning with circular economy principles and carbon neutrality goals, biochar technology presents a compelling opportunity for sustainable waste valorization and agri-input innovation.
